Enrolling in Medicare Part B can trigger lifelong penalties

About 700,000 Medicare enrollees are enrolling late for Medicare Part B. Enrolling leads to confusion, which causes him or her to enroll late and can lead to hefty lifelong penalties.

There is a seven month window to sign-up for Medicare, which starts three months before your 67th birthday month and will extend to three months.

If you collect Social Security benefits when you turn 65, you will be automatically enrolled in an insurance package, which will include both Medicare Parts A & B.

Part A for most enrollees is free and Part B has a monthly premium, which is standard.

The best way to avoid these lifelong penalties is to ask questions. Most of all take notes and document all conversations. If you have or are given false information, which causes a penalty, you could have recourse.
