Over 8.2 million seniors have saved more than $11.5 billion on prescription drugs since 2010

Information released in July of 2014, by the Department of Human and Health Services reveal that more than 8.2 million people with disabilities and senior citizens who receive Medicare continue to enjoy prescription drug savings as results from Obamacare, saving $11.5 billion since 2010. Since the enactment of the Affordable Healthcare act, out-of-pocket savings on prescription medications for those who receive Medicare coverage continues to grow. 8.2 million people with disabilities and seniors with Medicare has saved over $11.5 billion on their prescription drugs, since 2010 as the result of rebates and donut holes in 2010, with an average of $1,407. The figures are higher than they were last year when 6.6 million people with disabilities and seniors receiving medicare saved $7 billion on medications averaging $1,061 per beneficiary in the donut hole discounts.
